I’m totally tickled by the brilliant creativity of Vimrod’s author! :D Way to go yo!

Enough of slacking, it’s getting a little too bored in here.

Barely a week has passed since I have regained my freedom, and I’m all ready to move on. Oh gosh, why do all friends have to go to school/work? Can’t there be a remnant few to slack with me? I need new activities to keep me occupied!

Photobucket

I have no idea what this picture is doing here but I just find it so cute. :D

After accomplishing all the things that I have been yearning to do so badly, it leaves me with nothing much to look forward to tomorrow.

Stuff that I have always wanted to do but have no time to… Swimming, sun-tannng, shopping, reading in a cafe, catching up with pple, watching movies, sleeping (too much till i get a headache) yada yada…

+++ CRASHING A FRIEND’S LECTURE?!?!?!?!?!!!  *gasps!*

ALL ACCOMPLISHED!!!

WITHIN A WEEK!!

So pls, can someone give me a suggestion, what should I do tomorrow??? It can be quite a chore thinking of how I should entertain myself.

Yeah, it’s not like I am gonna idle for the rest of my life. Like c’mon, I’m awaiting my good news (keeping my fingers crossed) from my prospect company. So meantime, JUST SLACK, GUILTLESSLY! :P

This was taken eoooonnnsssssssssss ago with Yong Ling. My love for green tea latte has never cease. And guess what, I discovered a new place that sells awesome green tea latte, Ochacha at Paragon!

It’s a cozy place to hang out with a bunch of girlies or if you are bored like me, to just enjoy a good read right in the heart of the city. :D

Photobucket

Aha! Right on!

Photobucket

Once again, this is taken eoonnsss ago while I still have a job to occupy a huge chunk of my time and more than that, a salary to afford these raw prawn and sashimi!

One thing I’ll definitely miss-that is the FAMOUS BAH CHOR MEE from Circular Road. No joke, it’s so yummilicious that I can have this for lunch for 3 days a week. Poor colleagues (like Jassine :D ) who are always being dragged along by me to join in this boring routine. *giggles*

Oh wells, that sums up the week that has just passed. SO EXCITING COS i FINISHED WHAT I NEED TO DO FOR ONE MONTH ALL WITHIN A WEEK!!!

Hmmm… maybe I can attempt cooking tomorrow. Or better not as many would say. It’s still safer to buy take-aways.

Till then, please pray for God’s leading and His special favor to be upon me! Cheers! :D

If You Wouldn’t Wear Your Dog, Please Don’t Wear Fur

Fashion can be cruel for millions of animals worldwide who are routinely beaten, tortured and electrocuted for their skin.

Photobucket

Mark Ronson is the globe-trotting D.J. who took home the 2008 Brit Award for Best Male Artist and a music industry entrepreneur who is connected with some of the biggest names in the business. But most importantly, he is a loving guardian of adorable Maude, who is pictured here with him in his first PETA ad. They appear next to the tagline “If You Wouldn’t Wear Your Dog, Please Don’t Wear Any Fur.”

Why is this issue important to Mark? He knows that on fur farms, animals are kept in crowded, filthy wire cages, where they often develop neurotic behaviors and become sick or wounded. Fur farmers often kill animals using the crudest and cheapest methods available to avoid damaging the “pelt,” including breaking their necks while they are fully conscious and using anal or genital electrocution.

Undercover investigations have exposed these horrifying practices worldwide. In China, where there are no laws protecting animals on fur farms, dogs and cats are killed for their fur too. The fur is often mislabeled and sold as the skin of another animal, so it’s impossible to know where, or whom, fur products come from.

Remember that the skins of beautiful animals are only worn by ugly people. Mark Ronson wants you to help spread the word that animals should never be fashion victims. Share this ad and encourage all your friends to take the Pledge to Be Fur-Free.

Fireproof

Having watched Fireproof for 2 consecutive days, I must nudge everyone to watch this too. Be it in love, single or outta love, this show tunes us to the real meaning of love.

Must-watch if you haven’t catch that yet. ;)

Photobucket

Here are the few quotes which I particularly LOVE from the movie:

  • Woman is like a rose, if you treat her well, she will bloom. If you don’t, she will wilt.
  • Rule #1: Show thoughtful actions even without rewards.
  • Rule #2: Whatever you put your time, energy and money into, it’ll become more important to you.
  • Rule #3: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry (James 1:19)
  • Rule #4: Fireproof (a relationship) doesn’t mean fire will never come. But that when fire comes, you will be able to withstand it.
  • When a man is trying to win the heart of a woman, he studies her. He learns her likes, dislikes, habits and hobbies. But when he wins her heart and marries her, he often stops learning about her. If the amount he studies about her before marriage was equal to a high school degree, he should continue to learn until he gains a college degree, a master’s degree and ultimately a doctorate degree. It’s a lifelong journey that draws his heart ever closer to hers.
  • Rule #5: You can’t show love cos you can’t give what you don’t have. I can’t truly love someone until I understand what love really was.
  • Rule #6: Don’t just follow your heart cos your heart could be deceived. But you gotta lead your heart.

The full splendor of this movie awaits those who have 2 hours to spare. Enjoy and be blessed! :D

Really cute pictures I found!

45 Life Lessons

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio:

“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.  It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:”

Photobucket

1)   Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2)   When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3)   Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4)   Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5)   Pay off your credit cards every month.
6)   You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7)   Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8 )   Its OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9)   Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10) When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11) Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12) Its OK to let your children see you cry.
13) Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

Photobucket

14)  If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15) Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16) Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17) Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
18) Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
19) Its never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20) When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21) Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, and wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22) Over prepare, and then go with the flow.
23) Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24) The most important sex organ is the brain.
25) No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26) Frame every so-called disaster with these words ”In five years, will this matter?”
27) Always choose life.

Photobucket
28) Forgive everyone everything.
29) What other people think of you is none of your business.
30) Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
31) However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32) Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33) Believe in miracles.
34) God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35) Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36) Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
37) Your children get only one childhood.
38) All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39) Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40) If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’ grab ours back.
41)  Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42) The best is yet to come.
43)  No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44)  Yield.
45)  Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Hatred Makes You Strong

I’ve picked out a few very meaningful and interesting excerpts from my most favorite online commentaries. Enjoy :D

Photobucket

One of my favourite scenes in Star Wars 6 (Return of the Jedi) is the one where Luke Skywalker finally bests his heavy breathing dad Darth Vader. Luke had tried to avoid fighting his dad but when Darth threatened to turn Luke’s sister to the dark side, Luke goes berserk and defeats his dad, cutting Darth’s right hand off in the process. The evil emperor, who has been observing this duel, makes the following offer:

“Good! Your hate has made you powerful. Now, fulfill your destiny and take your father’s place at my side!”

Every time I watch this scene, I am reminded that indeed, there is a certain strength that comes from hate and I fear afresh for many of my friends who have given themselves to be God’s servants, good people who try to do the right thing in a fallen world. How tempting it is to find strength in hatred especially when you feel your reasons are valid and your goals right.

Those who have been insulated from having to see evil and injustice upfront will find it difficult to understand this temptation. But those who have seen evil blatant, destroying lives, and apparently getting away with it again and again, will know the exhaustion of staying true to the side of the angels, and the temptation of finding strength from the dark side.

But if we claim that we are on the side of God we have to abide by God’s word and God’s word tells us:

[Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:17-21 TNIV)]

Earlier, Paul says: [Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. (Romans 12:14 TNIV)]

In “The Return of the Jedi” young Luke Skywalker refuses to choose the dark side, willing instead, to suffer and die for the privilege of remaining true to the light. Yet it is his very “weakness” that inspires his father to love once again and to turn back from the dark side. Love, apparently weak, conquers. Ok it is just a movie, and an old movie at that. But it is a great movie, and this is a scene that echoes something true, and it continues to teach us.

The Winner Stands Alone

Photobucket

The beloved, bestselling international author of The Alchemist returns with another haunting novel—a thrilling journey into our constant fascination with the worlds of fame, fortune, and celebrity.

A profound meditation on personal power and innocent dreams that are manipulated or undone by success, The Winner Stands Alone is set in the exciting worlds of fashion and cinema. Taking place over the course of twenty-four hours during the Cannes Film Festival, it is the story of Igor, a successful, driven Russian entrepreneur who will go to the darkest lengths to reclaim a lost love—his ex-wife, Ewa. Believing that his life with Ewa was divinely ordained, Igor once told her that he would destroy whole worlds to get her back. The conflict between an individual evil force and society emerges, and as the novel unfolds, morality is derailed.

Meet the players and poseurs behind the scenes at Cannes—the “Superclass” of producers, actors, designers, and supermodels, as well as the aspiring starlets, has-been stars, and jaded hangers-on. Adroitly interweaving the characters’ stories, Paulo Coelho uses his twelfth novel to paint an engrossing picture of a world overrun by glamour and excess, and shows us the possibly dire consequences of our obsession with fame.

The plot captivates me the moment I set my eyes on it. Having read The Alchemist which is both thought provoking and mind boggling, I am sure this book will not disappoint with his poetic, realistic and philosophical style, and the symbolic language that does not speak to our minds, but to our hearts. ♥

I Should Be At Barcelona!

Photobucket

This post shall be nothing but my ranting. Cos this is my space!

  • This is the second time which I felt so panicky after realising the scope and depth of my last paper. In a tad moment, I’m gonna suffer from a heartburn. After studying yesterday, I was utterly demoralised and mentally exhausted. Thank God for friend like Boying who accompanied me all the way to IKEA just for meatballs. In the end, we didn’t have meatballs. But we got ourselves all the FAT food (like, fried carrot cake, fried oyster omelette, DEEP fried wu xiang xia bing, damn fattening bo bo cha cha..) I was just too tired to think about what I am eating, so we basically gobbled down whatever that lied in front of us. But now that I am sober, gosh, how am I gonna lose all those calories??!!
  • If studying is not already bad enough, friend so kindly offered me to go to Barcelona for FREE! Yeah, everything paid for. The catch is just hafta be at the product launch showcase and review about the product. Easy peezie japanizeee! That’s all I hafta do to earn myself a free trip, not anywhere but BARCELONA. As we all know, bad news no matter what don’t happen at good timing. The trip is effectively from today till next Monday! While it is just nice for me to hop on to my Australia trip, I won’t be able to sit for my exam! I have every reason to whine now! I WANNA GO TO BARCELONA, BARCELONA, BARCELONAAAAAA!!!!

Just look at all those pictures, tell me how not to whine about it??!!!

Fine, moving along, some rare wonders of our natural phenomenon.

1) Sailing Stones

Photobucket

The mysterious moving stones of the packed-mud desert of Death Valley have been a center of scientific controversy for decades. Rocks weighing up to hundreds of pounds have been known to move up to hundreds of yards at a time. Some scientists have proposed that a combination of strong winds and surface ice account for these movements. However, this theory does not explain evidence of different rocks starting side by side and moving at different rates and in disparate directions. Moreover, the physics calculations do not fully support this theory as wind speeds of hundreds of miles per hour would be needed to move some of the stones.

2) Columnar Basalt

Photobucket

When a thick lava flow cools it contracts vertically but cracks perpendicular to its directional flow with remarkable geometric regularity – in most cases forming a regular grid of remarkable hexagonal extrusions that almost appear to be made by man. One of the most famous such examples is the Giant’s Causeway on the coast of Ireland (shown above) though the largest and most widely recognized would be Devil’s Tower in Wyoming. Basalt also forms different but equally fascinating ways when eruptions are exposed to air or water.

3) Blue Holes

Photobucket

Blue holes are giant and sudden drops in underwater elevation that get their name from the dark and foreboding blue tone they exhibit when viewed from above in relationship to surrounding waters. They can be hundreds of feet deep and while divers are able to explore some of them they are largely devoid of oxygen that would support sea life due to poor water circulation – leaving them eerily empty. Some blue holes, however, contain ancient fossil remains that have been discovered, preserved in their depths.

4) Red Tides

Photobucket

Red tides are also known as algal blooms – sudden influxes of massive amounts of colored single-cell algae that can convert entire areas of an ocean or beach into a blood red color. While some of these can be relatively harmless, others can be harbingers of deadly toxins that cause the deaths of fish, birds and marine mammals. In some cases, even humans have been harmed by red tides though no human exposure are known to have been fatal. While they can be fatal, the constituent phytoplankton in ride tides are not harmful in small numbers.

5) Ice Circles

Photobucket

While many see these apparently perfect ice circles as worthy of conspiracy theorizing, scientists generally accept that they are formed by eddies in the water that spin a sizable piece of ice in a circular motion. As a result of this rotation, other pieces of ice and flotsam wear relatively evenly at the edges of the ice until it slowly forms into an essentially ideal circle. Ice circles have been seen with diameters of over 500 feet and can also at times be found in clusters and groups at different sizes as shown above.

6) Mammatus Clouds

Photobucket

True to their ominous appearance, mammatus clouds are often harbingers of a coming storm or other extreme weather system. Typically composed primarily of ice, they can extend for hundreds of miles in each direction and individual formations can remain visibly static for ten to fifteen minutes at a time. While they may appear foreboding they are merely the messengers – appearing around, before or even after severe weather.

When The Clock Strikes Twelve…

Post ESAP (this is way overdue)

Right after ESAP,  Ziwan and I were so ecstatic! And we just gotta make fun of this birthday boy who also took the same paper!

Photobucket

Crazy as we are, we started singing him a birthday song in the crowded train! Who cares right?! So long we had fun!

Photobucket

Of cos he is embarrassed!!

Photobucket

In the end, his face and ear turned red! Mission accomplished! A few things to note here:

  1. Don’t ever offend women, cos some said their fangs are more poisonous than the most venomous serpent!
  2. Don’t stray into me and Ziwan’s path after a draining examination unless you wanna be make fun of! (which we will gladly do that anytime of the day!)

Cheers! Hope you like your birthday song, Kunquan!

Photobucket

And also,  we celebrated Jules’ birthday @ Sofra. Awesome-ness!

Photobucket

Youth GDOP was great! That’s some of my ex CG girls, so so pleased to see how they are all growing up gracefully! :)

As the clock strikes twelve, everything goes back to normal. So it’s back to my studying mode again. One thing for sure, the past few days seem so magical. :D
